Landlay remedial diagnostics consultants in Sydney explain why rope access building inspections

Our remedial diagnostic consultants in Sydney explain that from August this year, the NSW Government has banned combustible aluminium composite cladding on the exteriors of multi-storey buildings, including residential buildings and public buildings over two storeys.

This ban applies specifically to forms of aluminium composite panel that have a core comprised of more than 30 per cent polyethylene. It is now illegal to use the product for external cladding or walls, facades, insulation or renders.

Products can only be used if they have passed the new product safety and wall assembly safety tests.

Here at Landlay, our remedial diagnostics consultants are informed that the ban would apply even if the building product was used in a building before the ban was made. This means all of the buildings identified by the NSW Cladding Taskforce audit and others where owners may be concerned about a compliance issue, would need to take urgent action.

In regards to penalties, non-compliance can carry a fine of $1.1 million for a company or $220,000 for an individual who either:contravenes the building product use ban or represents a non-complying building product.

With NSW coming into closer alignment with similar bans imposed by the Queensland and Victorian governments, our remedial building consultants are positive that this ban will greatly reduce the potential disaster as was seen in the Greenfell distaster of London.
